The location of your PDF files depends on whether you downloaded it from a web browser, saved it from emails, or if someone sent it to you using other alternatives. Nonetheless, it is helpful to know where they are and easily be able to locate such files when you need them.
When you save a file using a PDF reader, you can choose where to store your PDF files. However, locating other PDFs downloaded from several sources can be time-consuming. In this article, we will provide you with locations where PDF files are stored on your Android device.
Where Are PDF Files Stored on Android?
Obviously, when you move a PDF file from one location to another, they are stored in the folder you transfer to. But when you save, download or receive PDF files from different devices, they are stored in specific locations depending on how you got them.
All Android devices have an in-built file explorer for storing pictures, apps, music, and other documents. This includes PDF files as well. Moreover, you can find such files in some of the folders listed below.
Inside Download Folder
All the files, including the PDF that you download, are stored in the default download folder in File Manager. So, follow the steps listed below to reach the storage path with your PDF files.
- Open My Files, File Explorer or File Manager on your phone.

Android devices also have a separate Downloads app that contains all the files you download. You can access all the PDF files you download via the app without going through file explorer. Just look through your phone and tap on Downloads to open it.
In Newly Created Folder
Some Android devices can create a separate folder, say Gmail Downloads, for downloads from Gmail. If you do not find your target file in the Download folder, you should search for such folders. On some Android devices, you may need to tap on the downloaded PDF file from the notification bar and save them in your preferred location. Your file may also be available in the document folder if you save it there.
Inside Share App Folder
Android devices support several types of apps and file-sharing applications. If you received a PDF file through such apps, they are not stored in the download folder. You need to locate the Folder for the sharing app. You can follow the steps mentioned to locate shared PDF files.
