    How to Put a Picture in Google Docs

    Adding a picture in a document in Google Docs can improve the visuals of your document. Google Docs supports .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .bmp, .webp, .gif, .tiff, and .tif image files. So you have a variety of options when it comes to uploading a picture.

    Inserting an image in Google Docs is a fairly simple process. You can upload a picture directly from your device, internet, or cloud storage.

    Note: Google Docs will not upload copyrighted images from the web. 

    Through Insert Tab

    When inserting a picture in Google Docs, you have multiple ways to select your picture. Each option lets you choose pictures from different locations.

    1. Open a document in Google Docs. 
    2. Click on Insert.

    3. Go to Image.

    4. Select one of the following options:
      • Upload from Computer: Choose a picture from your device through this option.
      • Search the web: Use the text box to search for what you want.
      • By URL: Paste the URL of the picture you want from the Internet.
      • Photos: Select a photo directly from Google Photos. 
      • Drive: Select a photo directly from your Google Drive.

    1. Select an image and click on Open or Insert. 

    Drag and Drop Image

    Drag and drop is the simplest way to insert a picture in Google Docs. Locate your picture first and then open Google Docs. Then, follow these steps.

    1. Click on the image you want to insert and drag it to Google Docs.
    2. Release your cursor to drop the image into your document.

    3. Change the image placement as you see fit.

    Copy & Paste Image

    Another easy way to insert a picture in Google Docs is by copying a picture and pasting it on your document. You can follow these steps to do so.

    1. Find the picture you want to add to your document and right-click on it.
    2. Click on Copy or press Ctrl + C.

    3. Open your document in Google Docs. 
    4. Right-click and select Paste or press Ctrl + V.

    How to Resize and Edit an Image?

    When you upload an image, you might need to resize the image to your desired fit. You can also edit the picture on Google Docs itself. Follow these steps to resize and edit an image after you upload it to Google Docs.

    1. Right-click on the uploaded image and select Image options.

    2. You will find the following options:
      • Size and Rotation: Change the size and rotate the image.

      • Text Wrapping: Change how the image interacts with the text in the document.

      • Re-color: Change the color of the image.
