How to Delete Contacts in Yahoo Mail

Yahoo Mail allows us to save up to 5,000 contacts, including an option to import multiple contacts from other linked accounts. So, chances are you have several duplicate contacts or ones that you no longer need. 

In such cases, you can delete each of them and de-clutter your contacts list. Or, you could edit them to change a few details as well.

At First, Export Contacts

Once you delete a contact from Yahoo, it is permanently removed from your account. So, if you are on edge about deleting them completely, consider creating a backup. To backup, simply export these contacts using following steps. 

First, go to your Yahoo Mail homepage. Then, click the Contacts icon in the top right corner. Next, click the Ellipsis icon (three dots) and select the Export to CSV file option.

While you can easily access and delete Yahoo contacts on almost any browser, Yahoo doesn’t provide a built-in option to select multiple contacts at once. Therefore, you have to manually delete each of your contacts, one at a time. 

However, if you have saved all the contacts inside a contact list, you can delete such a list and all the contacts inside it.

On Yahoo New Version

1. Open a browser and log in to your Yahoo Mail account.
2. In the top right corner, select the little Contacts icon.
   
3. Select the All section to view all existing contacts. Then, click the contact you want to delete. If you have a long list of contacts, use the search bar.
   
4. Once you open a contact, click the ellipsis icon and select Delete contact.
   
5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to delete other contacts.

To delete a contact list, here’s how you can do it.

1. On the Yahoo mail homepage, select the little contacts icon in the top right corner.
   
2. Then, select the Lists tab.
   
3. Click the dropdown option below it and select the contact list you want to delete.
4. Next, click Edit List.
   
5. Click the ellipsis icon in the top right corner and select the Delete list option.
   

On Yahoo Basic Mail Version

If you are using an older version of Yahoo Mail, here’s how you can delete the contacts:

1. Open a browser and log in to your Yahoo mail account.
2. Click the gear icon in the top right corner and select More Settings at the bottom.
   
3. On the left sidebar, select the Switch to basic mail option.
   
4. In the next prompt, click Switch to basic Mail to confirm.
   
5. Now, select the Contacts tab and click the little trash icon to delete each contact.

1. Open the Yahoo Mail app.
2. Tap Contacts at the bottom of the screen.
   
3. Then, tap the contact you wish to delete.
4. Next, tap the Contacts icon next to the contact profile.
   
5. Tap the three dots icon in the top right corner.
6. From the pop-up menu that appears at the bottom, tap Delete, then OK.
   

Remove Contacts in Yahoo Mail On Android

Unlike iPhone, Android doesn’t have a separate option to delete your Yahoo mail contacts. Here are the steps to delete your Yahoo Mail contacts from your Android devices:

1. Open the Yahoo Mail app. 
2. Tap the search icon in the top right corner.
   
3. Now, tap on the contact you want to delete. Note that Yahoo Mail won’t display contacts that don’t have the email address detail.
4. Next, tap the Contacts icon next to the contact profile.
   
5. Tap the three dots icon in the top right corner.
   
6. Once a popup menu appears at the bottom, tap Delete contact.
   

How to Edit Contacts in Yahoo Mail?

If some of the contact details are wrong, you can simply edit them instead of deleting them. You can edit each of the contacts on your contacts list.

To edit a contact, go to the Contacts section and select a contact. Then, click the ellipsis icon. Then, select the Edit contact option. Now, make the necessary changes, and click Save.
