You can use a GIF just as you would a sticker or emoji — to emphasize your emotions. Similar to stickers and emojis, GIFs are available on almost all social media platforms. While you can use GIFs pre-stored on an app, you can easily make custom GIFs on your Android too.
You can share these custom GIFs with other apps as well. Android offers multiple ways to turn a photo or video into a GIF. You can use either just your phone or the Giphy app. Let’s talk about how you can use your Android to make a GIF.
How to Make a GIF on Android
Several models and brands of phones offer the option of creating a GIF right on your phone. While the most common and easy way is to use the GIPHY, you can also use existing images and videos from your phone.

- When the video starts, touch the screen to reveal the GIF Button in the top-right corner of your screen.
- In the editor that opens, drag the sliders to select the part of the video you want.
- In some Androids, you can also set the playback rate.

- Tap Create GIF.
- Exit the menu to get back to your Camera.
- Press on your shutter button to start a clip for your GIF and release it when you capture your clip.
Note: The exact steps might vary according to the model of your phone and your software.
Through WhatsApp
WhatsApp has a built-in feature that you can use to create a GIF. You can then share this GIF directly to a chat on the app. Note that you can only use a clip less than or equal to six seconds with this method. To create a GIF in WhatsApp, follow these easy steps.
