Facebook’s messenger app makes it easier to access all your conversations. It eliminates the need to log into the Facebook app every time. Compared to the Facebook app, Messenger’s user interface is also much simpler and easier to navigate. But sometimes, it can be difficult to log out of the app.
This could happen due to simple reasons such as a slow internet connection. However, you could also be experiencing issues for a multitude of other reasons. Regardless of the reason, there are several easy ways to solve this problem. Let’s take a look at these solutions in detail.
How to Log Out of Messenger iPhone?
The best way to log out of your Messenger app is to use the app itself. However, you can log out of Messenger on your iPhone directly through the Messenger mobile app, a web browser, the Facebook mobile app, or by deleting Messenger’s app data. These methods have been described in detail below.
Via a Web Browser
By logging into your Facebook account on the browser, you can find a list of devices where you have logged in. From this list, you can remove the devices where you want to log out. To do this:
On PC
- In your browser, type in www.facebook.com and log in to your account.
- Click on the profile icon on the top right corner to reveal a drop-down menu.
- Click on Settings & Privacy and then on Settings.
- Click on Security and Login on the right panel.
- Under the Where you’re logged in tab, click on See more.
- Find the name of the device you want to log out of and click on the three vertical dots beside it.
- Click on Log out. Messenger will log you out.
On iPhone
- In Safari, login to your Facebook account.
- On the top right corner, click on the icon that looks like three horizontal lines.
- Scroll down and click on Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- Under the Security tab, click on Security and Login.
- A window showing a list of devices where you have logged in will pop up.
- Click on the See more option to see all the devices you have logged into.
- Find the name of the device you want to log out of and click on the three vertical dots beside it.
- Click on Log out. It will now log you out.
Through Facebook App
Through Facebook’s mobile app, you can see all the devices where you’re logged in and can choose multiple devices to log out of. You should first be logged in to your account on Facebook’s app. Then, you can follow these steps to log out of your Messenger.
- Open the Facebook mobile app.
- Click on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Click on Settings & privacy.
- Click on Settings.
- Click on Password and security.
- Under the Where you’re logged in tab, you can see the devices where you have logged in.
- Click on See All right beside the Where you’re logged in tab.
- Look for the name of the device that you want to log out of.
- Click on the three vertical dots beside it.
- Click on Log Out.
- Facebook will now log you out of your messenger account.
Through Messenger App
You can also log out directly from the messenger app. Here’re the steps you need to follow:
- Go to your Messenger app.
- Click on your profile picture at the top-left corner.
- Click on Account settings.
- Click on Security and Login.
- In the Where you’re logged in tab, click on See more.
- Find the device you want to log out of and click on the three vertical dots.
- Click on Log out.
- Messenger will log you out of your chosen device.
Note: You can also click on the Log out of all sessions button at the bottom of the Where you’re logged in tab. This will log you out of every device where you have logged in.
Deleting Messenger’s App Data
To log out of Messenger, you can also delete the app data. When you do this, Messenger will delete all your data, including your log-in data. You can log in again with your credentials when required.
You can follow these steps to delete Messenger’s app data.
- Go to Settings.
- Click on your name at the top of the screen.
- Click on iCloud.
- Click on Manage Storage.
- Click on Messenger.
- Click on the Delete Data button.
- Click on the Delete button.
- It will delete Messenger’s app data and log you out.
Note: If you cannot find Messenger on Step 5, you must delete the app to log out.
