How to Find and Replace a Text in Word

Instead of scrolling a document to locate and replace the same word multiple times manually, you can use Word’s inbuilt feature to do so at once. It also does this in a fraction of the time and is one of the easiest ways to fix an error.

This inbuilt feature is called the Find and Replace feature in Microsoft Word and is simple to use.

How to Find and Replace a Text in Word?

You can go through your entire document and manually replace any word you want to replace. You can press Ctrl + F, type in the word you’re looking for, and then manually replace it one by one. You have to scroll through the selected words and change them individually.

To make this process easier, you can use the Find and Replace feature.

Using the Find and Replace Feature

The Find and Replace feature scans your document looking for the word you want to find. You will then have the option to review and replace them one by one or all at once. You can find and replace up to 255 characters.

You can follow the steps given below to use this feature.

    1. Open Word.
    2. Click on the Home tab.
    3. Click on Replace in the right-most corner. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut key Ctrl + H.

Advanced Find and Replace is another feature on MS Word. This feature allows you to match suffixes and prefixes along with matching cases and ignoring punctuations. You can also change and replace the font and colors. To use this feature, follow these steps.

    1. Click on the Home tab in Word.
    2. Click on Replace in the right-most corner. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut key Ctrl + H.
