If you want to delete a message inside a conversation on Messenger, you can remove it for everyone or just for yourself. When you choose the Unsend option, no one else in the conversation will be able to access the message anymore. When you choose the Remove for you option, everyone else in the conversation will still be able to see the message except for you.
You can delete Facebook Messenger messages through Facebook’s web versions or through the Messenger app as well as the web version.
On Mobile
- Log in to your account on Messenger and select a conversation.
- Tap and hold on to the message you want to delete.
- Click on the three horizontal dots and select Remove.
- You can select either Unsend or Remove for you.
On PC
- Log in to your account on Messenger and select a conversation.
- Hover your cursor over the message you want to delete.
- Click on the three vertical dots.
- Click on Remove.
- Click on Unsend for everyone or Remove for you.
On Messenger App (Desktop)
- Open the app and select a conversation.
- Right-click on the message you want to delete.
- Select Remove for you or Remove for everyone.
- Click on Remove.
How to Delete Entire Facebook Messenger Messages?
You can delete a whole conversation using the Messenger or Facebook apps. Please note that this is permanent for you. However, the other person will still be able to access the chat.
On Mobile
- Go to the Messenger app on your phone.
- Long press on the chat you want to delete and select Delete.
- Click on Delete.
On PC
- Log into your account on Messenger.
- Hover your cursor over the conversation you want to delete.
- Click on the three horizontal dots
- Click on Delete chat.
- Select Delete chat to confirm.
On Messenger App (Desktop)
- Open the app and right-click on the conversation you want to delete.
- Click on Delete Conversation or Delete Chat.
- Select Delete to confirm.
