In Gmail, there are several categories for your emails. Gmail automatically creates and separates these categories. But, you can also create folders to include options that Gmail does not have by default. These folders are called Labels.
Labels allow you to organize your inbox and keep it clutter-free. This will also help you access and search for emails efficiently. So without any delay, let’s take a look at how you can create folders in Gmail.
How to Create Folders in Gmail?
When you create a folder in Gmail, you can apply multiple Labels to one single email. This means you can add the same email to multiple folders. This makes accessing these emails much simpler and easier, as you can look for them in multiple folders.
You can create these labels through the Labels option or the Settings from Gmail’s web and mobile apps. Let’s explore these methods in detail.
Through Gmail Settings
You can use the Settings option on the web app to create folders in your Gmail account. The web app has a simple user interface so it is easy to do so. You can follow these steps.
- Log in to your account on Gmail.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Click on See all settings.
- Go to the Labels tab.
- Click the Create new label at the bottom left corner of the page.
- Give your label a name and press Create.
- The label will appear in the panel on the left.
Through Side Panel
The Side Panel on Gmail offers a more straightforward way to create a label. The process is similar to the Labels tab in settings.
On PC
- Go to Gmail and log in to your account.
- On the left panel, click on the + next to Labels.
- Enter a name for your label and press the Create button.
Alternatively, you can go to the More option from the left panel of the screen and create a label. Here the steps to do so.
